This week, the Inquisitive Iguanas researched the meaning of Earth Day.
Earth Day is a holiday celebrating environmentalism and nature. The first Earth Day was created in 1970 to bring
attention to environmental problems like pollution, acid rain, and the extinction of endangered animals. As a response
to the issues raised at Earth Day, some laws like the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act
were passed. Since then, Earth Day has been a national holiday celebrated on April 22nd of every year. People use
this day to celebrate the Earth and also to raise awareness of environmental problems.
