This week, the Inquisitive Iguanas researched the meaning of the name Rachel.
Rachel is a Biblical name. In the Old Testament, Rachel was Jacob's favorite wife, the mother
of Joseph. Her name means "ewe" in Hebrew, which is a female sheep. Although the name
is pronounced RAY-chell in English, in Hebrew it is pronounced rah-KHELL, with a guttural "ch" sound like
the one in German "ach."
